The Go Neck Pillow Success StoryUpdated 22 days ago

In late 2016, the design team at Studio Banana set out to solve a common traveler's woe: the lack of real neck support in standard travel pillows. The result was the Go Neck Pillow, a project that captured the imagination of the global travel community on Kickstarter.

The Campaign by the Numbers

The response was immediate and overwhelming. By the time the campaign closed on December 15, 2016:

  • Total Raised: $324,772 (smashing the original $50,000 goal).

  • Backer Community: 4,531 supporters from around the world joined the journey.

  • Funding Speed: The project was fully funded in record time, proving that travelers were hungry for a high-quality, ergonomic solution.

The Vision: Support for All

The core "why" behind the campaign was inclusivity. Our design team spent months studying neck anatomy to ensure that the pillow provided an optimal headrest for every person, regardless of their neck proportions. We didn't just want to make another pillow; we wanted to create a "universal fit" using high-sensitivity BASF® memory foam and a customizable Velcro® brand closure.

Designed With Backers in Mind

We didn't just design in a vacuum. During the 30-day campaign, we engaged with our community to refine the details that mattered most to them:

  • Portability: Engineering the pillow to compress by 60% into a compact travel bag.

  • Hygiene: Ensuring the OEKO-TEX® sleeve was easily removable and machine washable.

  • Durability: Sourcing premium materials that were built to last, journey after journey.

A Legacy of Napping

Following the viral success of the Ostrichpillow Original, Light, and Mini, the Go Neck Pillow solidified our place as pioneers in the "Rest Anywhere" movement. Thanks to the support of our 4,531 backers, we were able to move from prototype to production, bringing a new level of comfort to travelers worldwide.
